Judgment, undelegated.
I am writing this to you, the person who has to make the call.
You run a business, or you sit beside the person who does. Your decisions move capital, people and assets across borders. When something goes wrong, it lands on your desk first — and it stays there.
You have hired good law firms before. You know the routine.
The partner wins the pitch. Then an associate you have never met sends the first draft. The memo runs forty pages and concludes, somewhere near the end, that it depends. The invoice arrives faster than the answer.
Of course, you rarely say this out loud. Good counsel is hard to find, and changing firms feels like a risk of its own.
Meanwhile, your matters have only grown more complex. A financing now touches three jurisdictions. A regulation changes halfway through a transaction. Counsel on the other side wants comments by morning. You do not need more paper. You need judgment you can act on.
We founded Bangun & Partners because we had spent years as partners at Indonesia’s leading firms, and had seen the same thing from the other side of the table. The best work was always done when a senior lawyer stayed close to the matter. The worst, when that lawyer disappeared after the first meeting.
So we built the firm around one rule: the lawyer you hire is the lawyer who does the work. We keep the firm senior-led on purpose. We take your call ourselves. And when a matter needs counsel abroad, we lead that coordination, so you are never left managing lawyers in three time zones.
None of this is complicated. It is simply rarer than it should be.
If you have a matter that deserves that kind of attention — a transaction, a dispute, a decision you cannot afford to get half-right — I would like to hear about it.
With respect,
Joni Aries Bangun
